Hayat has a background in physiotherapy. She was awarded a PhD studentship in Health from Edge Hill University. She completed her PhD in 2023, which involved the development of a core outcome set for physiotherapy trials in bronchiectasis using mixed methods approach. She previously participated in multiple research projects in outcome measurement, including aspects of PROMs adaptation, validity, and reliability testing. Her research portfolio also includes systematic reviews, a clinical trial, and research in professional development in physiotherapy.
Hayat is currently working on the EORTC funded project: using the EORTC Item Library to assess symptomatic patient-reported adverse events (AEs). This project aims to map the EORTC Item Library against PRO-CTCAE library, then to recommend the most suitable item from the EORTC library to be used for each adverse event. She will also develop new items for the adverse events currently missing from the library.
